From July 17 to August 10, 2003, I escaped from Japan to do a little Southeast Asian tour of Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
The trip was a big history lesson for me on the Vietnam War, the genocide by the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, and so many other things. I rode a boat on the Mekong Delta, an elephant in the hills of Thailand, and I hiked through the "wonder of the ancient world" temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia... so many amazing experiences that small-town Texas girls rarely have.
